Sternenmehr - An offer from Familycare Basel for young and old in the heart of Basel.

In the heart of Basel, on an area of over 1000m², we offer not only a daycare center, but also a flexible childcare service, a range of courses for young and old, lecture series on current educational topics and a modern event room for your own event. Discover our versatile offer.

The childcare at Sternenmehr is a high quality and short-term bookable childcare offer for children from the age of three years up to primary school age.

Childcare staff and scope of care

The care is provided by professionals at daycare level, but because it can be booked at short notice, even for individual hours or days, it does not pursue a standard of education and training comparable to that of a daycare center.

Opening hours

Sternenmehr is open on weekdays from 07:00 to 21:00 and on Saturdays from 08:00 to 18:00. There are no vacations or closing days, with the exception of the week between Christmas and New Year's Day, public holidays and Shrove Monday.

Catering

Full board is provided with breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and, if required, dinner. The catering has been awarded the "Fourchette verte - Ama Terra" label and is therefore based on the criteria for balanced meals for young children according to the Swiss food pyramid.

The baby porridge is mainly prepared by ourselves in organic quality. If special food is needed, we use long-standing daycare suppliers in organic quality and branded products.

Costs

An overview of the costs can be found on the leaflet "Overview prices Sternenmehr". In addition to meals (can be booked individually), all hygiene products are included. All excursions and participation in the day program carried out as part of childcare are also included in the price.

For the organization of childcare we currently require a lead time of 48 hours (two working days).

Please note:

If we have less than three bookings or children at the same time for childcare at Sternenmehr on a Saturday, the price will be CHF 35.00 per childcare hour. We can always inform you 48 hours before the start of the desired care about the current booking situation.

According to §8 of the Ordinance on the Care of Children in Day Care Centers and Day Families (Kindertagesstätten- und Tagesfamilienverordnung, KTV), a child may be cared for at Sternenmehr for a maximum of 16 hours per week.

Rental of the event hall

Sternenmehr's event hall is located on the second floor of the Kirschgarten office building in the heart of Basel. It is the ideal location for events of all kinds and can be used for a variety of purposes.

The rental fee includes seating, tables, use of the available presentation equipment, water and coffee as well as cleaning.

Special conditions apply for non-profit organizations and associations as well as for members of the Familycare Basel association.
